Scams

In the digital world, scams are one of the most common ways for someone to trick you to get something out of you. This is usually personal information like your social security or just money.

Phishing Scams

Phishing scams are scams that often appear in emails and attempt to impersonate big companies or entities. In the email, they will state things to try to get you to click on a certain attachment or link. Once the link or attachment is clicked they can access your device. Overall the hacker's purpose is to enter your device.

IRS or Government Imposter Scams

IRS or government imposter scams occur when someone calls and claims they are a part of the IRS or government. The scam will either be for tax collection or verification. For tax collection, they would claim that you need to pay some taxes and if you don't you could get arrested. For verification, they try to get you to verify personal information. These scammers try to get money or personal information but both could be dangerous.

Award money scams

Award money scams claim that the victim has randomly won a big cash prize or gives a too-good-to-be-true offer. Many of these types of scams show up in the form of a pop-up window that asks the user to claim the prize. The scammer's purpose is to obtain data and personal information from the victim.

Phone Call Scams

Phone call scams are phone calls the victim gets and is tried to reveal their personal information so the scammer can get the victim’s data or money. This is often done by the scammer pretending to be a trusted company.

Extra Fees Scams

Extra fees scams promise the victim a big share of money and profit, but are later compelled to pay a hefty amount for "fees". The scammer will convince the victim that the fee is being used to benefit the victim's profit, but in reality, the scammer is just getting paid all the money.
